All Windows 10 PCs come preinstalled with two applications that can be used to resize photos - (1) Photos and (2) Paint.  Note that these apps are good for downsizing photos which are too large, but not suitable for resizing photos that are too small. For the latter, you would need to use a programme like Photoshop.

Resizing photos using the Photos app

Step 1: Double click on the image file that you want to resize. It will open up in the Photos app.

Step 2: Click the three dots in the top right corner, then click “Resize”.

Step 3: All pop-up will appear. Click on 4MP or Define custom dimensions.

Step 4: If you click on 4MP, the image will be automatically resized. Save the resized image.

If you choose to define custom dimensions, ensure that “maintain aspect ratio” is checked. Key in “2000” (or any number between 750 and 2000) into the width, and click on “Save resized copy”.

Resizing photos using the Paint app

Step 1: Open up the Paint app from the Start Menu, or look for it by typing “paint” into the search bar.

Step 2: Open the photo that you want to resize by clicking on File > Open, then selecting the image from the files in your computer.

Step 3: Click on “Resize” and a pop up called Resize and skew will appear. Click on the pixels radio button and key in 2000 (or any number between 750 and 2000) in the Horizontal field. Ensure that “Maintain aspect ratio” is checked. Click OK.

Step 4: Click on File > Save As to save the resized image.

If you do not have a Windows 10 machine, or access to any apps on your device to resize photos, there are websites that offer free photo resizing. Just search for them in your web browser by using “free photo resizer” as your search term.
