1. Within the Telegram app, locate the “Settings” button at the bottom right corner and click on it.
  2. Click on “Privacy and Security” from the list of options displayed under settings.
  3. Select “Groups & Channels.”
  4. Under the “WHO CAN ADD ME” section, change it from “Everybody” to “My Contacts”. This makes sure that people who are not saved as your contact cannot add you to Telegram groups.
  5. You can go further to add exceptions like preventing a particular contact from adding you to any groups at all. Or always allow (trusted) contact to add you to any group. This function can be found under the “EXCEPTIONS” section.
