Make use of the rooms photos section in HMS to showcase the different room types at your property. This is crucial because images provide the traveller with an idea of what the rooms and amenities in your hotel are like, and present an opportunity for you to connect with and inspire your guests.  


A study conducted by TripAdvisor found that photos have the most significant impact for driving engagement from travellers researching a hotel. Photos help differentiate your property from another.  


A separate user experience study by Expedia found that when a hotel website displayed multiple images of the hotel, rooms and amenities, travellers felt reassured that the hotel was being honest. It also found that travellers were more likely to make a booking if there were images of rooms with natural light and views outside. 


There is no limit to the number of photos that can be uploaded for each room type via HMS for the booking engine. The images should tell a story and show the flow of the space from the perspective of a guest. They should showcase any features that make the room unique.

Before you start taking your photos, ensure the following: 

  • Room, bathroom, bedside tables, vanity tops and all surfaces are clean, neat and clutter-free 

  • Surface of pillows and throws are smooth with no obvious wrinkles 

  • The curtains are open - if the sunlight is too glaring, draw close the day (sheer) curtains but keep the night curtains open

  • Bedside lights are on if rooms lack natural lighting

  • Toilet bowl seat covers are closed

  • Amenities and toiletries are neatly arranged
