Guest coupons can only be applied if the booking is made via the booking engine. It cannot be applied directly to a reservation from HMS, even if the booking had been received from the booking engine. This means that you need to provide the traveller with the coupon code prior to him making the reservation on the booking engine.
How to apply a guest coupon to a booking:
- After selecting the stay dates and room type, clicking on Reserve will bring the guest to the next page which will ask for the reservation details.
- In the Reservation Summary section on the right-hand side, a hotel that has enabled Coupons will display a tag "Use a coupon". Clicking on it opens up a box where the guest can type in the coupon code.
- Type in the coupon code and click on "Apply". If it is a valid coupon code, the guest will see the description and the discount (if applicable) calculated on the final rate immediately. Note that the coupon code is case-sensitive and the system will recognise it as invalid if it is not entered exactly the way it was created in HMS.
